PROFHILO® STRUCTURA TREATMENT

Profhilo® Structura is an advanced regenerative injectable treatment designed to address age-related changes within the superficial fat compartments of the face.

As we age, facial fat does not simply disappear. It can reduce in volume, flatten, descend or become unevenly distributed. These changes may contribute to hollowing of the cheeks, reduced facial support, skin laxity, jowling and a less defined facial contour.

Profhilo® Structura contains highly concentrated hybrid cooperative complexes of high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid. It is produced using IBSA’s patented NAHYCO® technology and contains 90 mg of hyaluronic acid in each 2 ml syringe.

The product is injected into carefully selected superficial facial fat compartments, usually using a cannula. It is designed to integrate softly within the tissue and support the restoration of age-related changes without creating the projection or sharply defined contours associated with conventional dermal fillers.

Profhilo® Structura is particularly suitable for patients who want to look fresher and more supported while maintaining their natural facial identity.

HOW DOES PROFHILO® STRUCTURA

Profhilo® Structura is placed within selected superficial fat compartments of the face. Its hybrid hyaluronic-acid complexes are designed to integrate with the tissue and support the environment surrounding adipocytes—the cells that make up facial fat.

The treatment aims to improve the quality and support of age-affected tissue rather than simply filling a line or creating artificial volume.

Its regenerative and remodelling effects develop progressively. Patients may notice improved softness, firmness and facial support while still looking like themselves.

What Is the Difference Between Profhilo® Structura and Original Profhilo®?

Original Profhilo® is primarily injected within the skin and is used to improve hydration, elasticity, firmness and skin laxity.

Profhilo® Structura has a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid and different rheological properties. It is specifically designed for placement within superficial facial fat compartments to address age-related changes affecting facial support.

In simple terms:

Original Profhilo® primarily targets skin quality and laxity.
Profhilo® Structura targets age-related changes within superficial facial fat.

Some patients may benefit from one treatment, while others may be suitable for a carefully planned combination.

Is Profhilo® Structura a Dermal Filler?

Profhilo® Structura contains hyaluronic acid and provides a degree of soft tissue support, but it does not behave like a conventional cross-linked dermal filler.

Traditional fillers are designed to create predictable volume, projection, contour or structural definition. Profhilo® Structura spreads and integrates more softly within the superficial fat compartment.

It is intended to produce subtle, regenerative and natural-looking improvement rather than sharply sculpted facial contours.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?

Profhilo® Structura is principally used within selected superficial fat compartments of the face, particularly around:

The lateral cheeks
The zygomatic or cheekbone region
The preauricular area in front of the ears
The midface
Selected areas contributing to lower-face laxity

It is not intended to be injected into the lips, nose, forehead or directly beneath the eyes as a replacement for conventional filler.

The exact placement depends on facial anatomy and the patient’s individual pattern of ageing.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Profhilo® Structura may be suitable for adults experiencing:

Early or moderate facial fat changes
Flattening or hollowing of the lateral cheeks
Reduced midface support
Mild to moderate lower-face laxity
Early jowling
A tired, deflated or sagging appearance
A preference for subtle and natural-looking rejuvenation
Reluctance to have conventional volumising fillers

It may be particularly valuable for patients whose facial ageing follows a “sinker” or “sagger” pattern.

What Is a “Sinker” Pattern of Ageing?

A “sinker” pattern is associated with facial hollowing, flattening and loss of soft tissue support. The cheeks may appear less full, and shadows or depressions may become more noticeable.

Profhilo® Structura may help support affected superficial fat compartments and create a softer, more rested appearance.

What Is a “Sagger” Pattern of Ageing?

A “sagger” pattern occurs when facial tissues descend and become less supported. This can contribute to lower-face heaviness, folds, laxity and early jowling.

By targeting selected superficial fat compartments, Profhilo® Structura may improve tissue support and create a subtle lifting and firming effect.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The recommended initial protocol is generally:

Two treatment sessions
Approximately 30 days apart

The second session supports and consolidates the response initiated by the first treatment.

A maintenance treatment may be recommended approximately four to six months later, depending on your age, facial anatomy, lifestyle and response.

When Will I See the Results?

Some patients notice improved softness and facial support within the first few weeks. Results usually continue to develop following the second treatment.

The treatment should normally be assessed several weeks after completing the initial course. Results are gradual and cannot be guaranteed.

How Long Do the Results Last?

Clinical improvement may remain visible for approximately four to six months. Some patients may experience benefits for longer, while others may require earlier maintenance.

Will Profhilo® Structura Make My Face Look Puffy?

The treatment is not intended to create excessive volume or an overfilled appearance.

Carefully selected placement and conservative treatment planning help produce soft, natural-looking support. Temporary swelling may occur after treatment, but this should reduce as the area settles.

Patients with significant facial heaviness, oedema or unsuitable anatomy may not be appropriate candidates.

Can Profhilo® Structura Replace Dermal Filler?

This depends on the result you wish to achieve.

Profhilo® Structura may be appropriate when the concern is age-related facial fat change, soft tissue support or subtle rejuvenation. Dermal filler may be more appropriate when precise projection, contouring or structural correction is required.

Some patients may benefit from combining the treatments, while others may only require one. Nurse Maya will explain the most appropriate options during your consultation.

Is the Treatment Painful?

Profhilo® Structura is usually administered using a cannula through a small entry point on each side of the face.

You may feel a brief scratch, pressure or mild pulling sensation. Local anaesthetic may be used when appropriate. Most patients tolerate the procedure well.

Is There Any Downtime?

Downtime is generally minimal, although temporary side effects can occur.

What Are the Possible Risks?

As with every injectable procedure, Profhilo® Structura carries risks.

Prolonged swelling
Inflammation
Persistent lumps or nodules
Asymmetry
Unsatisfactory or insufficient correction
Skin discolouration
Hypersensitivity or allergic reaction
Nerve irritation
Scarring

Rare but serious complications can occur if the product enters or compresses a blood vessel. Vascular occlusion may result in reduced blood supply, skin damage, scarring and, in extremely rare circumstances, visual disturbance or loss of vision.

Urgent assessment is required if you experience severe or increasing pain, blanching, mottled discolouration, cool skin or any change in vision.

Who Should Not Have Profhilo® Structura?

Treatment is not suitable for people who:

Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Are under 18 years of age
Have a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or another product component
Have an active infection or inflammation in the treatment area
Have an active cold sore or skin lesion near the injection site
Have certain autoimmune conditions
Have a significant uncontrolled medical condition
Have an uncontrolled bleeding or clotting disorder
Are currently medically unwell
Have recently undergone laser resurfacing or a medium-to-deep chemical peel in the treatment area
Have unrealistic expectations or require a result the treatment cannot provide safely

Patients taking anticoagulants, antiplatelet medication or immunosuppressive treatment require individual medical assessment.

Do not discontinue prescribed medication unless advised by the clinician responsible for your care.

What Should I Avoid Before Treatment?

Before your appointment:

Inform Injector Maya about all medications, supplements, allergies and medical conditions
Disclose any history of cold sores
Avoid alcohol for approximately 24 hours
Avoid non-essential supplements that may increase bruising, where clinically appropriate
Arrive without make-up where possible
Avoid dental procedures close to your appointment if advised by your practitioner

What Should I Avoid After Treatment?

Following treatment, you will normally be advised to:

Avoid touching or massaging the treated area unless instructed
Avoid applying make-up for approximately 12 hours
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours
Avoid alcohol for approximately 24 hours
Avoid saunas, steam rooms and excessive heat for 48 hours
Avoid swimming for at least 48 hours
Avoid facials and facial massage until the area has settled
Avoid laser treatments and medium-to-deep chemical peels until medically advised
Avoid excessive sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum SPF
Contact Injector Maya promptly if you develop unusual or worsening symptoms

Can Profhilo® Structura Be Combined With Other Treatments?
