Our clients love Chemical Peels due to their wonderful effect.  Chemical peels reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, deep acne scarring and hyperpigmentation. They resurface the skin and give an all-over boost by removing dead skin cells and stimulating new cell growth.

A chemical peel is a specifically created solution that rejuvenates the skin.  Peels work by removing dead skin on the outer layers of your skin, clearing away superficial signs of discoloration, damage, fine lines, and promoting new skin growth. There are various options available that Injector Maya may recommend based on your individual skin concerns.

There are different types of chemical peels. Medium skin peels target only skin cells from the epidermis and from portions of the upper part of your middle layer of skin (dermis) and are most effective in treating acne scars, stretch marks, dull skin, large pores, roughness, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Deeper peels are designed to target poor texture, pigmentation, severe acne scarring, wrinkles.

Every treatment is customized individually, considering patient skin type, specific problem areas and the delicate areas of the face. The depth of the peel depends on the concentration and type of acid, a person’s skin type, level of sensitivity and duration of the contact with the client’s skin.

BEFORE & AFTER

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Medium and deeper chemical peels are typically applied to the whole face and neck and can also be applied on the backs of the hands. They are effective in the treatment of: lines and wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, overlarge pores, sun damage, uneven skin tone. You can only have a deep chemical peel once. This is because they affect the deeper layers of the skin, and the results are more permanent.

Most chemicals peels are made of carefully formulated, naturally occurring acids and they are classified by their depth of penetration. The more challenging the skin problem, the more likely Injector Maya is to recommend a deeper treatment.

The chemical peel will remove the skin’s damaged outer layers and the new cells and collagen will be stimulated during the healing process, resulting in a smoother, tighter, younger looking skin surface.

Many clients express their concern about the level of pain experienced during chemical pee treatment. The deeper the chemical peel, the more likely you are to experience some discomfort, stinging or burning during the treatment, however, any discomfort is generally minor and resolves quickly. Contact us before your consultation if you're concerned about pain during your treatment, or if you think you have particularly sensitive skin - we will do our best to advise you the best options available.
At Injector Maya’s clinic we recommend not having any other skin treatments for at least two weeks.
It's really important that the right candidate is matched to the right treatment, to make sure your treatment is effective but above all safe. This is why it’s important to have a consultation with an expert first, as they will be able to advise you as to if it’s the right treatment for you. If not, they can advise an alternative that will tackle the problems you are looking to address.
There are some treatment options available for people with active acne (breakouts). Certain chemical peels are effective in the reduction and control of active acne. After a careful assessment of your skin, Injector Maya can recommend which treatments are likely to help at the time, and manage breakouts going forward.
Healing time for chemical skin peels varies depending on the individual and the treatment. Typically, you can expect to develop some redness, stinging and flaking of the skin after your treatment. The skin on your face or hands will flake and peel for about two days after your treatment and will continue for roughly a week. Deeper peels will typically take longer to recover from and require greater preparation.
Anything deeper than a very superficial chemical peel should be avoided during the summer months, and even the lightest peels should be followed with use of brimmed hats, sunglasses and rigorous SPF application when going outdoors, avoiding high UV days. Chemical peels strip away cells from the epidermis and dermis, meaning a lot of your skin's natural protection from UV rays will be diminished. Chemical peels and sun exposure can cause severe sun damage and hyperpigmentation. Book a Skincare Consultation with us today to discover what treatment is right for you.
